Bandera County Veterans Service Office
The mission of the Bandera County Veterans Service Office is to assist veterans, their dependents and survivors in obtaining their benefits. (You will need a copy of your DD-214. They will help you get one, if needed) They will coordinate with local government and non-government service agencies to assist in obtaining the clients needed services, such as benefit programs, service connected disability compensation, non service connected pension, VA Education benefits, VA Home Loans, and Burial Benefits. Also will help State of Texas Benefits - reduced rates on property taxes, vehicle licenses, drivers licenses, etc.

Alamo Regional Transit (ART) provides transportation bus service for medical appointments, youth, seniors, adult daycare and the general public. Reservations must be made by noon the day prior to travel. Serving Atascosa, Bandera, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karen's, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, and Wilson Counties.

American Legion Post 410 has a limited amount of medical equipment to lend. This includes crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Please contact the Post for more info.
Project MEND (Medical Equipment Network for Disabled)(Veterans) provides prosthetics. Call 210-223-6363 for more information.
Exposured to Asbestos and need help?
Numerous veterans have been exposed to asbestos, have come down with mesothelioma. Asbestos was a commonly used in many military applications, products and ships due to its' resistance to fire. For help, check with the Pleural Mesothelioma Center at www.pleuralmesothelioma.com
Also veterans may be entitled to extra benefits due to asbestos exposure- check with your VA Center.
